Age-associated inclusions in normal and transgenic mouse brain.

چکیده
Fig. 4. Age-related increase in number of inclusions in brains of male C57BL/6 mice. LBP-like immunoreactive clusters were quantified in 25-pim coronal sections through the dorsal hippocampus. For each animal, the number of clusters per unilateral hippocampus was determined in several sections and subsequently averaged. Numbers of mice were 6, 5, 4, 9, 9, and 17 at ages 0 to 2, 6, 9 to 10, 12 to 13, 18, and 24 to 31 months, respectively. Error bars represent SEM; ANOVA for age effect, F(5,44) = 5.26, P <0.001.

Targeted overexpression of human α-synuclein in oligodendroglia induces lesions linked to MSA -like progressive autonomic failure
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a rare neurodegenerative disease of undetermined cause manifesting with progressive autonomic failure (AF), cerebellar ataxia and parkinsonism due to neuronal loss in multiple brain areas associated with (oligodendro)glial cytoplasmic alpha-synuclein (alpha SYN) inclusions (GCIs). Using proteolipid protein (PLP)-alpha-synuclein (alpha SYN) transgenic mice we hav...
متن کاملPathological hallmarks of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/frontotemporal lobar degeneration in transgenic mice produced with TDP-43 genomic fragments.
Transactive response DNA-binding protein 43 ubiquitinated inclusions are a hallmark of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and of frontotemporal lobar degeneration with ubiquitin-positive inclusions. Yet, mutations in TARDBP, the gene encoding these inclusions are associated with only 3% of sporadic and familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Recent transgenic mouse studies have revealed a high degre...
متن کاملOf mice and men SOD 1 associated Human Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Transgenic Mouse Models by Karin
I refuse to answer that question as I don't know the answer. ABSTRACT Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, is a progressive fatal neurodegenerative disorder affecting motor neurones in motor cortex, brain stem and spinal cord. This inevitably leads to paralysis, respiratory failure and death. In about 5% of patients with ALS there is an association with mutations in gene for the abundant intrace...
متن کاملNoninvasive in vivo MRI detection of neuritic plaques associated with iron in APP[V717I] transgenic mice, a model for Alzheimer's disease.
Transgenic mice overexpressing the London mutant of human amyloid precursor protein (APP[V717I]) in neurons develop amyloid plaques in the brain, thus demonstrating the most prominent neuropathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease. In vivo 3D T2*-weighted MRI on these mice (24 months of age) revealed hypointense brain inclusions that affected the thalamus almost exclusively. Upon correlating...
متن کاملInfluence of species differences on the neuropathology of transgenic Huntington's disease animal models.
Transgenic animal models have revealed much about the pathogenesis of age-dependent neurodegenerative diseases and proved to be a useful tool for uncovering therapeutic targets. Huntington's disease is a well-characterized neurodegenerative disorder that is caused by expansion of a CAG repeat, which results in expansion of a polyglutamine tract in the N-terminal region of huntingtin (HTT). Simi...
